THIS WEEK CAMPERS WILL TRY OUT NEW SPORTS. BASKETBALL, SOCCER, DODGEBALL, FRISBEE TO JUST NAME A FEW.

Week 3: ALL THINGS WATER (6/13/22-6/17/22)

THIS WEEK CAMPERS WILL HEAD TO THE POOL(WEATHER PENDING). THEY WILL HAVE WATER BALLOON GAMES AND WILL NEED LOTS OF SUNSCREENS

Week 4: WHEELS WEEK (6/20/22-6/24/22)

THIS WEEK CAMPERS WILL BRING BIKES, SKATES, SKATEBOARDS, REMOTE CONTROL CARS. ANYTHING WHEELS THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO USE. WE WILL STORE THEM FOR THEM AND THEY WILL TAKE THEM HOME AT THE END OF THE WEEK

Week 5: NATURE WEEK ( 6/27/22- 7/1/22)

THIS WEEK CAMPERS WILL GO ON TRAILS ADVENTURES THROUGH PENDLETON’S AMAZING WOODED TRAILS. THEY WILL SEE NATURE, ANIMALS, RUN AND WILL HAVE LOTS OF FUN. A STOP AT THE PARK IS ALWAYS A FAVORITE

Week 6: MUSIC WEEK (7/05/22- 7/08/22)

THIS WEEK CAMPERS WILL CREATE MUSIC TOGETHER. MAYBE A FUN TALENT SHOW FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO BE EXTRA CREATIVE

Week 7: RELAY RACES WEEK ( 7/11/22-7/15/22)

CAMPERS WILL LEARN SOME NEW FUN GAMES AND MAKE LOTS OF FRIENDS AS THEY TEAM UP TO WIN

Week 8: EXPLORATION WEEK (7/18/22- 7/22/22)

PENDLETON HAS SO MANY FUN PLACES TO EXPLORE. CAMPERS WILL HEAD OUT TO GO AND FIND AS MANY AMAZING THINGS AS THEY CAN.

Week 9: BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK- (7/25/22- 7/29/22)

CAMPERS WILL END UP CAMP PLAYING AT THE POOL, HANGING OUT AT THE PARK, RUNNING ON TRAILS, AND DOING CRAFTS. THIS WILL BE A FUN WEEK TO FINISH UP ALL THE FUN IN THE SUN AND GET READY TO HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL.

OUR APPROACH TO YOUTH SPORTS

At the Y, our sports staff, coaches and volunteers all share a singular vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We leverage the excitement and passion around recreational and competitive programming to create a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, develop a sense of team and connect with positive role models.

YOUTH SOCCER

BE GOAL ORIENTED! Youth Soccer is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth soccer promises no try outs, no getting cut and no bench warmers! While basic skills of the game are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life.


SEASONS: Spring and Fall*

LEAGUES:

AGES 3 – 4 COED

This is an introduction to soccer and sports socialization. Children play on a field appropriate for their age with no goalie. Teams practice for 20-30 minutes before each game and a size 3 ball is used. Coaches officiate while teaching children during the course of games.

AGES 5-7 COED

Children in this division start to learn many of the rules of soccer. Teams practice one night a week for one hour. Children learn throw-ins and corner kicks, along with a modified goal kick. They play on a field appropriate for their age with a goalie and a size 4 ball is used. The official(s) take an active role in coaching as well as enforcing the rules.

AGES 8-10 COED

Emphasis is placed on skill development and learning the rules of the game. Teams practice one night a week for one hour. They play with a size 4 ball.

AGES 11-12 COED

This division continues to emphasize skill development and the importance of teamwork.

Teams practice one night a week for one hour. They

play with a size 5 ball.

SUPPLIES

Players will receive a shirt to play in. Each player will need shorts, shin guards, socks and soccer cleats or tennis shoes.

ANDERSON SOCCER- DAVIS PARK

Anderson YMCA has an outdoor league at Davis Park ( 4507 Nichol Ave, Anderson, IN 4601 ). This league has been running for several years and has four fields running at the Park during game days. Practices are during the week according to the coaches preferred time.

YOUTH CHEERLEADING

Cheerleading offers the perfect opportunity for kids to develop self-reliance and self-confidence on an individual level while stressing the importance of teamwork within a cheer squad. Cheerleaders will learn basic skills, chants, cheers, jumps, and stunts while experiencing performances in front of a crowd. Cheerleaders will perform and cheer during youth basketball league games. T-BALL

THE BASICS

The purpose of this league is to teach children the basics of the game of baseball. All children will hit the ball off of a tee. Children will be taught defensive fundamentals such as defensive positions, how to properly catch a ball, and how/when to throw it to a base. Offensive fundamentals such as keeping your eye on the ball when batting, running to the correct base, and when to run to the next base, will be emphasized.

Fun and learning are the main goals for our tee ball program! Children will be taught the different positions, and everyone will get to bat! Teams will practice 1 time per week, and have 1 game on the weekend.


AGE GROUP

This tee ball league is for children ages 3 to 5 years old.

COACHES

Committed and caring volunteers are needed to coach, and teaching the basic fundamentals of baseball. On game days, coaches will be responsible the flow and running of games.

SUPPLIES

Players will receive a shirt to play in. Each player will need pants, a glove, and cleats/shoes.

LAPEL YOUTH SOCCER- TRINITY LIFE CENTER

Lapel youth soccer is a new addition to the Pendleton Soccer Leagues. Lapel youth soccer will be located at Trinity Life Center (5900 S.R. 13 South, Pendleton, IN 46064). This youth soccer league encourages children to learn the skills based on their age level and grow to become better athletes. Children will be given a shirt/jersey, but will need to bring their own shorts, shin guards and cleats. Trinity United Methodist will provide devotionals each week for the children before game time.

COMPETITIVE BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The Pendleton YMCA works to provide top-notch sports training programs that are designed to assist each participant with the growth and development of their individual skill levels while teaching teamwork and sportsmanship.  Secondly, we strive to use the avenue of sports to teach and incorporate the character values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.
