YMCA of Madison County offers a wide variety of group exercise classes. We strive to accommodate all levels of fitness and we offer options for all ages, workouts preferences, and fitness levels. You may choose from more than 50 classes per week at various locations. Check out our Group Exercise schedule for a complete list with class descriptions.

If you are new to class, please let your instructor know. Modifications may be recommended. You are encouraged to work out at your own pace. Have fun!


Descriptions for Group Exercise Classes- Each branches schedule is located at the bottom of the page.

Cycle - Join this journey to climbing hills, racing through straightaways rounding corners easy cycling on flat land - all levels. Those individuals with low back or knee injuries should first consult their physician prior to taking class 30, 45 and 60 min classes.

Body Sculpt - A variety of exercises that use free weights to target strength in the muscles through resistance.

Core Intensity - A combination of cardio and strength with emphasis on the core.

HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training exercises that will give you a full body workout by combining/alternating cardio and strength exercises designed to give you a full body workout by combing challenging cardio exercises with specific muscle conditioning.

Core On the Floor - The core of the body is your powerhouse! Similar to Pilates, this class is sure to challenge areas you didn't realize you were missing. Building strength in the core will help you conquer challenges in any workout.

Power Pump - A combination of endurance, strength and toning with extra emphasis on strength.

Silver Sneaker Classic - Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.

Silver Sneaker Yoga - Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.

Silver Sneaker Boom Move - A higher intensity dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories. MOVE IT is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout.

Tabata- Tabata is high intensity interval training that follows a specific format: 20 sec of very high intensity exercise and 10 seconds of rest.

Tai-Chi - Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today is practiced as a graceful form of exercise.

Yoga - Vinyasa Flow yoga is linking yoga poses with the flow of the breath, music and traditional yogic philosophy. Class eases into a steady pace building endurance, flexibility, strength and inner stillness.

Breathe, Stretch, Focus - This class is focused on relaxationan with gentle movement.

Zumba - Latin Dance based cardiovascular workout with a variety of dance rhythms - Salsa, Samba, Cumbia, Merengue & Latin Hip Hop.

REFIT - Come join this fun dance cardio class you will move to today’s hits for every fitness level.

BARRE - A little bit of everything...BARRE fuses the best of pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of the strength building exercises.

Boot Camp - An intense military style workout using a combination of strength and cardio exercises.

Pound - Pound is the worlds first cardio jam session inspired by infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.

High Fitness - It is a hardcore, fun fitness class that incorporates interval training with pop music, and intense easy-to-follow fitness choreography. HIGH Fitness produces a high caloric burn and full-body toning through its carefully formulated choreography that alternates between intense cardio peaks and toning tracks.

Low Impact: Cardio Strength - This class is a combination of strength training, basic low impact cardiovascular segments, balance and flexibility. Specifically designed for those who prefer a great workout without the added impact to joints.

Strength & Sculpt - A body sculpting class generally combines cardiovascular, stretching and strength-training exercises to help burn calories, increase flexibility and tone muscles all at once. Exercises in these classes vary greatly depending on the set-up and instructor
